Jewel Needs Our Help

Jewel Miller is a young woman who is very ill. After years of struggling with liver disease, a liver transplant is her only hope for survival. Jewel is one of the kindest person you’d ever hope to meet, always willing to lend a helping hand. Now she needs the support of her community as the cost of a transplant can be overwhelming.

Jewel grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated in 1982. Playing with her brother she put her arm through a glass storm door, but that did not stop her from accomplishing anything that she wanted to do. It made her that much stronger and more determined. Today she demonstrates that same courage and drive as she prepares for transplantation. Together, Jewel and her family are committed to seeing her through this procedure. However, they face a challenge they cannot meet alone.

As you can imagine, transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Jewel is facing very high expenses including post-transplant medications of up to $1,500 a month, co-pays, lab fees, and more.

To help with the financial burden of Jewel’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community -based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Mid-Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
