Joan Arf

As many of you know, Joan has had severe medical challenges since her husband died in 2016. It began with a lung cancer diagnosis, then shingles which still requires medication, then a broken femur that physical therapy is continuing to improve, and finally a bout with Lyme’s Disease that led to her becoming physically and mentally impaired in 2022. Upon leaving transitional rehab, she did not qualify for assisted living because of her limitations so she was moved to a state operated nursing home under Medicaid.

Through her hard rehab work, Joan now qualifies for a clean, well-run enhanced assisted living facility only a block from daughter Gretchen’s house. The catch, however, is that it is private pay for two years until insurance kicks in. Even with Gretchen and Aaron’s contribution of personal money and Joan’s Social Security, it is not enough.

We have partnered with Help Hope Live to raise $24,000 dollars to cover the difference needed to keep Joan in the facility.
