My name is Jocelyn Barnwell. Thank you for reading my story.

In 2017 my life changed when I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy (heart failure). My heart works at about 25% of a normal heart. My heart function did not respond to medical therapy and I subsequently had a LVAD placed in 3/2020. This LVAD malfunctioned and I had to have another open heart surgery for a replacement LVAD. We were hoping this would recover the heart, but unfortunately it hasn’t. I am closely followed by University of Utah. We are in the process of deciding whether I would be a candidate for a heart transplant.

Prior to my hear failure, I had a successful painting company. I was unable to pursue my profession after my diagnosis due to the physical limitations. I am also a single mom of two children, one with autism.

It has been a long journey and I have a long road ahead. The financial stressors have been challenging. I currently am living in Three Forks, MT and I travel to Salt Lake City about every three months for follow up appointments and testing. I am in need of financial help with living accommodations, travel expenses, medications, co-pays and daily living expenses.

I pray that my heart will recover. My goal is to continue to be a proud mom and be able to return work in the future.
