Get John (Tres) Kerns Back to working after His liver transplant!

On Saturday June 29th at 2 am in the early morning, Tres got a very healthy liver and was operated on for his long awaited liver transplant… after five years, John received a liver and was in the operation room for 4 days!

He woke up early Tuesday morning and began Tres’ recovery… after many complications during surgery… his new liver started healing John’s body quickly .. by Sunday July 7th, he was released from the hospital… His recovery so far has been good…

As many of you may know 2 to 3 years ago you helped Tres raise close to $30,000 to cover out of pocket expenses…he has been paying MUSC each month for out of pocket expenses related to his liver over that period of time …and this year had a cancerous tumor removed from his liver.

If you can help or know others to help raise another $20,000 in additional funds, he feels he can meet his out of pocket expenses … his body is healing from 30 years of Diabetes,.. he is learning to live again and although Tres has been told that recovery may be possible, it will be a year long journey with numerous out-of- pocket medical expenses…including lifesaving anti-rejection medicine. In the meantime, he has been learning to work around his difficulties.

Since John’s traumatic liver transplant surgery,.. Tres has struggled with his memory function and a range of motions as he learns how to live a normal life again… When necessary, he uses a walker or wheelchair for long trips., and to move around the house and neighborhood…

Tres has been told by the hospital they believe his out of pocket expenses will be anywhere from $25,000 to $30,000… and his insurance will only cover some of the cost.

He will have continued rehabilitation and occupational therapy costs. Some of these therapies are only covered partially by insurance, which means Tres and his family must cover the rest of the out-of-pocket expenses… John is also looking for Angel Donors who are willing to commit to raising $2,500. $5,000 or what ever they feel they can raise through they sphere of influence on his behalf… please let him know if you feel that you can be an Angel Donor…
