Jonah Cowgill

Family and friends of Jonah Cowgill are raising money through the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses that have been proven to help brain injury healing. What’s awesome about fundraising with Help Hope Live is because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses!

A little about Jonah:

Jonah came into this world on October 7, 2024, fighting for his life. He was born with the umbilical cord wrapped tightly around his neck, which stopped oxygen from reaching his brain. For eight minutes, doctors worked hard to bring him back. Jonah was placed on a cooling table for 3 days to help reduce brain damage after this scary event. Doctors didn’t have much faith in Jonah ever leaving the NICU, much less breathing on his own, but he’s been working hard to prove his doctors wrong ever since!

After doctors resuscitated Jonah, he then began having seizures and needed a breathing tube to keep him alive. Jonah was rushed to Akron Children’s NICU and was placed on a cooling table for the next 72 hours to prevent further damage to his brain.

10/11/24 – Doctors reviewed Jonah’s MRI and essentially told us to start making arrangements for the following week because they did not think he would make it out of the NICU, much less breathe on his own. He was diagnosed with HIE (hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy – which is a brain injury due to lack of oxygen to the brain)

10/21/24 – Jonah got off all breathing support and started breathing room air!

Jonah is currently fed via gtube, which is a feeding tube button in his stomach to allow him to be fed and work of feeding as Jonah tolerates.

Jonah has done HBOT, a DMI intensive, and a round of stem cells thanks to generous donors and it’s helped him so much! These treatments, combined with weekly PT, OT, feeding therapies, chiropractic work, and MNRI have all been so helpful for his development.

Jonah is improving each day, but it’s not without its struggles. We ask for constant prayers over Jonah that God will continue giving him the strength to fight and provide a complete brain healing for our sweet boy

Right now, Jonah needs your support more than ever. Unfortunately insurance doesn’t cover many life-changing treatments for brain injuries, so many of the treatments and therapies that would tremendously help Jonah’s brain heal are out of pocket. Some of these therapies include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, stem cell therapy, red light therapy, MNRI, and Anat Baniel Method treatments.
