I desperately needed a heart transplant to survive.

My name is Jose Luis, and I have been admitted to Tufts Medical Center in Boston Massachusetts since 10/11/2020. I was hospitalized due to chronic heart failure and was told I needed to remain in the hospital until a transplant became available due to my critical condition. I received a transplant on 2/23/2021 and remain in the hospital at this time.

I am a 53 year old father of three wonderful children. I also have two grandchildren. I worked in construction until my medical decline and also volunteered in my community. I love to connect with people and also love animals.

Any donation amount will be tremendously helpful due to my prolonged hospital admission, treatment plan which includes medications with out of pocket costs and living expenses once I am able to return home. I am required to take multiple medications to prevent my body from rejecting my new heart. I will also require long-term physical therapy due to complications.

Every bit helps and in my case, will be greatly, greatly appreciated as I continue to fight for medical progress and the ability to spend time with my family.
