Joy Rumple

Dear Friends,

We are writing to you on behalf of the Rumple family. As you may know, in 1993, Joy Rumple from Statesville was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy — an illness that eventually leads to congestive heart failure and other heart issues. Within the last three years, Joy has been in and out of the hospital with problems related to her illnesses.

Even after many surgeries/ablations and the implantation of a defibrillator/pacemaker, her symptoms continued to worsen. Joy was told that her only chance at life was to have a heart transplant. Joy has been on the active transplant waiting list now for 17 months at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, and receives IV inotropes (Milrinone) to assist with her heart function until her transplant.

Even with insurance, Joy will have many uninsured, transplant-related expenses such as co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel to and from the transplant center, and the costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life.

To help alleviate this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Joy’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a non-profit organization assisting the transplant community for thirty years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
