Help Julie Travel for Medical Care and Stay Independent

Hi, I’m Julie! 💛

In 2025, I was officially diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS). It’s a full-body connective tissue disorder that affects my joints, skin, and organs.

Living with hEDS means I spend a lot of time managing my care, going to appointments, and keeping up with treatments that help me stay functional and independent.

Most of my specialists are over 3 hours away, few are about an hour from home, and I will soon be traveling states. Because of the distance, I have to cover all travel costs out of pocket. Medicaid does offer travel reimbursement, but it’s based on mileage, and my trips go beyond their limit.

This fundraiser will help cover the many expenses that come with living with a disability, including:

Travel costs for medical appointments

Lodging during overnight stays

Disability accommodations and assistance

Supplies and tools that help me maintain my independence and quality of life

I’m very lucky to have family and friends who support me through all this. They help me with overnight stays and always keep me going when things get tough.

Medical care can be stressful, and this kind of help takes a big weight off my shoulders. Whether it’s a donation, a share, or just spreading the word, it all makes a real difference.

Thank you so much for helping me stay on top of my care and continue living as independently as I can.

With love and gratitude,

Julie Ortiz
