Kaitlyn McCalmon

Family and friends of Kaitlyn McCalmon are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a pancreas and kidney transplant. Kaitlyn has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Kait was 14 years old when she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Though she has gone through many ups and downs with this condition, Kait has tried to maintain a happy, eventful life by traveling, enjoying time with friends and family, and hobbies like baking and photography. However, living with diabetes has caused more serious health complications and she developed kidney disease. Kait has been on dialysis since July 2024.

What Kait enjoys most is spending time with the ones she loves. Since her kidneys have failed, Kait has lost a lot of her energy to be able to do things that she loves. Time that was used for enjoying outside activities, finding new recipes to try, or spending time with her friends and family has been consumed with rest and healing for her body.

Kait is fundraising for the costs that will come with and after the transplants, as she will need 6 weeks to recover. She hopes that her pancreas and kidney transplants will allow her to get back to her normal life. A better quality of life. Kait has always been a strong, independent individual, but this is something she cannot do on her own.
