Karen Maddox

Dear Friends,

I am writing to you about my wife, Karen, who is in need of a kidney transplant. We have been married for 26 years, and have two children and four grandchildren. Our son who is a Marine served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. We are very proud parents.Our daughter is a talented stylist and a wonderful mother of two. She has played a huge part in event planning and fund raising. She is selfless and a wonderful person, who we are so proud of as well.

My wife has worked her whole life up until this disease took over. She is a wonderful wife and grandmother – her grandchildren adore her. She loves to be with her family, and they all love her laughter and her determination. Karen is the kind of person that would do anything for a friend. She loves animals and wild life. Her hobbies include drawing, crafting, fishing and of course her grandchildren.

I am asking in this letter for all your support. Even though we have medical insurance we will incur many uninsured expenses. A kidney transplant is a huge financial cost, not only the surgery but all that surrounds it, whether it is travel expenses, co-pays, donor costs, pre-transplant medications or doctor visits.

In order to ease the financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Karen’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Great Lakes Kidney Transplant Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
