Karin Hostetter
Lancaster, PA
Hi everyone! My name is Karin Hostetter & I am 23 years old. I lived an active life until I got diagnosed with my lung disease in 2017. Since then I have been diagnosed with several more chronic conditions & diseases. I’ve been trying to manage my health with diet changes, medications, & supplemental oxygen but my health problems keep progressing. Every three years I undergo a lung transplant evaluation to see if a double lung transplant is finally needed – my most recent evaluation was in September of 2025 & I am still considered “too well” for a transplant at this time. That being said I still need to be closely monitored & I need to make sure I am managing my health to the best of my ability.
For work, I am a babysitter/nanny – I love being able to help & support busy, hardworking parents with their kiddos. Outside of work, I love spending time with my fiancé & friends. If I’m out of the house, I’m usually in a church, either at a Bible study or serving. I love cooking, escape rooms, & reading books. I also have a service dog named Peter Parker (yes, he was named after Spiderman), who loves smelling every single blade of grass & whipped cream.
Since becoming chronically ill, I struggle with extreme pain & low energy levels which limits my ability to see friends & work. My diet sometimes only includes liquids because I can’t always tolerate solid foods, so I’m unable to enjoy cooking or eating out with my friends. I also have gained weight & have lots of scars due to my health issues, making me self conscious of my appearance.
I am fundraising to be able to cover my medical bills that come from appointments, medications, procedures/surgeries, unexpected emergency department visits, & more. I have chose to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.
I am hoping that this fundraising campaign will take off a lot of stress & worry about how I am going to pay for my medical bills, so I can focus on managing my health to the best of my ability.
Make a tax-deductible donation to support this campaign.
