Dear Friends of Kathy,

Some of you may know Kathy from her work as a nurse for 37 years at Banner Good Samaritan. Some of you know Kathy from living in Phoenix and raising her family in Glendale. Kathy is a nurse, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who needs our help.

Twenty three years ago, Kathy was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a type of liver disease that attacks the bile ducts. She now finds herself in need of a liver transplant. Kathy is fortunate to have a place on the waiting list at Banner Good Samaritan Transplant Center (BGSTC) and now is exploring a possible living liver transplant at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). She will be facing many travel and medical expenses throughout this process.

This brings us to the purpose of this letter. Not only is a liver transplant a major medical procedure but it is very expensive and insurance does not pay 100% of the costs. A fundraising campaign in Kathy’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
