Kelson M B Williams

Kelson could not wait to join the outside world and was born at 24 weeks on 3/29/13. As a result of his early entrance to the world, he spent 5 months in the NICU before coming home to join his family. At the age of 2, Kelson was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy – Spastic Diplegia and Dystonia, which affects the use of legs, balance and ability to walk. But that does not stop him!  Kelson is a one in billion comedic kid with all the best jokes. He is a fun-loving typical kid who is big hearted, expressive and proud. With a million-dollar smile, head full of curls and charming personality, he instantly makes his way into your heart. Kelson loves traveling with his family and friends exploring new destinations at every opportunity!

To help Kelson achieve independence, we are fundraising to assist with training a service dog for Kelson! That is where Gus comes in!!  Training Gus to be Kelson’s service dog means Kelson being able to do things without relying on other people, and with the help of his faithful companion instead. Gus will be trained to tasks specific to Kelson’s needs such as picking up dropped items, retrieving items for him, reaching light switches or items on top of tables Kelson cannot reach from the seated position of his chair, providing deep pressure therapy when his legs go into muscle spasms and balance support when transferring from his chair to other surfaces, among many others!

Training Gus to be Kelson’s service dog can greatly improve his independence and quality of life. The training process is long and is quite expensive. We are currently fundraising to assist with the costs of training with a goal of $25,000.  We adopted Gus in August of 2024, he is a Bernadoodle who was specifically chosen for his breed, size and trainability. He went through temperament testing and passed with flying colors! You will likely Stephanie, Kelson and Gus around town training for socialization and practicing his training tasks!
