Ken Needs Our Support!

Ken Garland is a 59-year-old man whose life took a big turn when he was diagnosed with stage 4 cirrhosis. Ken has been told that a liver transplant would be his only option for a chance to live a longer and healthy life. However, he is in need of our help. The cost of a transplant can be overwhelming.

Ken grew up in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and graduated from Duncan High School in 1975. He attended Cameron University. Shortly after beginning college, Ken decided to join the oil industry where he started as a floor hand on an oil rig. After many years of hard work and experience, Ken went on to become a consultant in the oil field. It is this resolve that helps him hold onto the hope of a transplant, a second chance at life.

However, a liver transplant is a costly procedure. Ken will be required to live near the hospital for 90 days after the procedure. During that time, he will be making frequent trips to the hospital for blood work and check-ups. Post-transplant medications will run him up to $1500 per month. Ken’s wife, Marcela, will need to care for him around the clock post-procedure which means she will be unable to work during those 60 days. Marcela’s income plays a very important role in the household. Ken eagerly looks forward to continuing where he left off in his career as an oil and gas consultant. Together, Ken and his family look forward to seeing him through this transplant.
