This whole situation is confusing to all involved. Ken was working 50 plus hours a week, doing mechanic and body work on vehicles, to being on oxygen 24/7 and disabled almost overnight without a reason. All we know is he did end up with covid twice, the second time went to the hospital with low oxygen and went home having the oxygen now a full time accessory. This changed everything, a mortgage two car payments and bills that have to be paid. We all know that disability is a wonderful thing but it doesn’t come close to the monies made while working.

Ken did everything the doctors instructed by not only quitting smoking, 6 years prior, but to continue to use a CPAP machine that was recalled, and in doing so was supposed to make the minor health issues better. That was not the case.

He is now going to Duke every 6 months to monitor the progression of the COPD that is affecting his lungs, to prepare for a lung transplant.

We are asking for any donations to help with the hardship that has placed on the family, to also help when the time comes for the transplant so he can go through the year long healing process, which he will have to relocate closer to the hospital and have full time care.
