Kevin’s Story

Kevin “Beans” Baker is known for showing up—for his community, for veterans, for children in need, and for fellow riders. As an active member of multiple riding groups, including Patriot Riders, HOG, and Iron Vikings, Kevin has spent years participating in charity rides supporting memorials for fallen officers, veterans, children’s causes, and animal welfare.

It was during one of these events—a memorial ride honoring a state trooper, with proceeds benefiting community causes—that Kevin’s life changed in an instant.

While participating in this annual event, Kevin was involved in a catastrophic accident that resulted in a severe spinal cord injury.

He was airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he underwent a complex, six-hour emergency surgery led by top neurosurgical specialists. He spent over a week in the ICU on life support, followed by nearly two additional weeks in the trauma unit.

Kevin is now facing a long and uncertain recovery.

A physician has given Kevin a 3% chance of walking within the next year.

Despite this, Kevin remains grounded, determined, and resilient—approaching recovery with the same strength and positivity that has defined his life.
