Help Kevin Stay Home and Active

In July of 1969 at the age of 16 Kevin fell out of a tree and broke his neck. It left him a C4 quadriplegic losing the use of his legs and arms. After his accident he went on to get his GED and left Florida for California and got his Bachelors Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation at California State University, Los Angeles.

He moved back to Florida and worked for the state working with the disabled at Vocational Rehabilitation and Miami-Dade Community College. His interest in computers led to his Microsoft Certification in Networking. Even with insurance Kevin still paid all of his out-of-pocket medical expenses.

In spite of the many obstacles and expenses that come with having a disability Kevin has pursued an active life. He is married and lives with his wife, two dogs and his cat. He enjoys listening to music, being outdoors, walks through the woods (he calls it off-roading in his wheelchair.), participating in community events and going to shows and concerts with his wife.

Kevin is no longer able to work so the cost of his care has continued to be overwhelming. Medical insurance does not cover many of the needs for Kevin’s daily life. Full-time home health care, medical equipment, home modifications and a van for transportation are always needing to be upgraded.

Over the years trying to keep Kevin out of a nursing home has become more expensive. Your help is essential to keeping him functioning as a productive person in society and continuing to live a full life. Please help.
