HELP KHANH AND HIS GRANDCHILDREN CREATE MORE MEMORIES TOGETHER

Family and friends of Khanh Luu are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Catastrophic Illness. Khanh has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Khanh Luu is a retired English teacher who recently moved from Vietnam to the United States. In April 2025 he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and detailed imaging later revealed a brain mass. The biopsy in late May gave the final diagnosis of glioblastoma grade 4, the most aggressive type of primary brain cancer. Though the prognosis is poor, his survival time can still be lengthened and quality of life improved with recommended treatment. However, radiation and chemotherapy required for the grade/type of his tumor can cost hundreds of thousands out-of-pocket per year, since he is not eligible for Medicare/Medicaid or private insurance at this time. The brain biopsy with discounts was priced at $11,000, and the first round of radiation was estimated at $33,000.

Khanh is 70 years old and his wife passed away in 2018 due to a rare neurodegenerative condition. He now resides in San Antonio, Texas with his two daughters and their families. He has two grandsons, who are aged 9 and 7, and three granddaughters, aged 7, 5, and 1, who love spending time with their granddad. Khanh also wishes to return to virtually mentoring English teachers in his country, as well as consulting students who study for the international English examinations such as SAT, TOEFL, and GMAT. He has devoted his life to changing the lives of others through education.

Khanh’s current condition has caused changes in his memory, vision, and motor functions, making it much more difficult for him to fully adjust to his new life in Texas. He gets fatigued quickly and is at increased fall risks when outing with his family. But with quality healthcare, there is hope for Khanh to spend the rest of his time on earth in peace and not without meaning. That is made possible because of your generous giving at this urgent time of his great medical needs. Khanh and his family are forever grateful for your donations, which will be used to pay for his radiation and chemotherapy starting on July 21, 2025.
