Dear Friends, Family and Supporters,

My sister Kim, age 42, was hit by a driver under the influence of drugs and alcohol on November 14th, 2010. As she was slowing down to prepare to stop at a stop sign, the driver of the vehicle came over a hill traveling 100 mph and slammed into the back of her vehicle. Kim’s spinal cord was severed as a result of the accident and is severely damaged. The doctors told us, she is paralyzed from the chest down and will never be able to walk again due to where her injuries occurred.

Kim is a single mother to 3 sons. Jeremy, Jamie and her youngest son Hunter. The driver of the other vehicle was driving on a suspended DUI license and had no insurance! And of course the driver is out of the hospital and doing just fine.

Kim went TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas where she went through extensive rehabilitation therapy. In spite of her devastating accident, Kim is in good spirits and determined. She knows that she needs to be there to raise her youngest son Hunter.

Kim has a long road ahead of tremendous financial burden. The average first year of expenses for someone with her extent of injury will be well over $250,000. There are many expenses that will need to be paid for out of pocket.

Kim currently is working on becoming a public speaker to tell her story so others can make the right choice when it comes to Drinking/Texting and Driving. We are also working on a Fundraiser to raise $20,000 to buy an FES Bike. The Therapists feels that she could benefit from an FES Bike but the closest Facility that has an FES Bike is a six hour drive from her home. Insurance will not pay for the Bike.
