Help save Kimberly’s life and improve her health!

Kimberly Clark is a 49 year old woman who used to work as a pharmacist. However, in the summer of 2013 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor called a meningioma. She lost the majority of her vision as a result of this and has suffered with daily, chronic, and debilitating headaches ever since then. As a result of this, she is no longer able to work.

In March 2024, Kimberly suddenly started feeling very tired and weak. Her hands were shaking and jerking which caused her to keep dropping things. She also fell down a couple of times. Additionally, she found she was starting to forget things. Kimberly and her family were really concerned, so she checked with the doctor. The doctor ordered labs and discovered Kimberly had gone into kidney failure. She was rushed to the emergency room and admitted to the hospital. While she was in the hospital the doctors did many tests and worked several days to try to discover why her kidneys decided to stop working but could never identify the cause. Since then she has been on dialysis to keep her alive.

Kimberly has hemodialysis treatments 4 days a week, and these treatments (including setting up and taking down) take about 4 to 5 hours each. Dialysis has many downsides. It:
– Is very time consuming.
– Makes her quite tired.
– Makes her headaches worse.
– Places many restrictions on what she can eat and drink.
– Makes it so she cannot travel anywhere without having to worry about how to get dialysis.
– Reduces how long she will live. She will live longer with a living donor kidney than she will with dialysis.

Kimberly was approved to receive a kidney transplant (level 1 transplant status) in Sept 2024 and is now waiting for a donor kidney to become available.

Getting a kidney transplant is very expensive, so Kimberly is fundraising for the cost of co-insurance for the surgery, hospitalization, medications, medical equipment, supplies, doctor’s visits, and post care. Kimberly’s team estimates this will cost thousands of dollars.

Kimberly hopes that her kidney transplant will allow her to get back to her normal life. She loves spending time with her family, playing games, listening to books, watching old TV shows and movies, going on walks, traveling, and playing with her dog. Kimberly is helpful to her family and brightens the world around her with her smile. Getting a kidney transplant would help her get off dialysis and greatly improve her quality of life. It would give her more energy and help her be able to live life more fully. It would also help her live longer.
