Laurie Grimes

Dear Friends, Family and Community,

Laurie Grimes is a 45 years old and has been struggling with End Stage Renal Disease for more than eight years. She is on dialysis and her doctors have told us that her only option is a life-saving kidney transplant.

Laurie grew up mostly in Adams and York counties in Pennsylvania, graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1992. Laurie and I met in high school and have been married almost 23 years. She worked at Rutter’s in Abbottstown and Ryan’s Family Steakhouse in Hanover for a few years. Unfortunately, due to her declining health and being on dialysis, Laurie is unable to work or do many things she has always enjoyed. Once she receives her transplant, she looks forward to going back to work and being an active member of the community once again.

Transplants are life saving but financially draining. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center and relocation expenses at the time of transplant. In addition, Laurie will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This puts our family up against a challenge we cannot meet alone and desperately need your help.

A fundraising campaign in Laurie’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 40 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southeast Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
