Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you know, in June of 2011, I sustained a T-10 spinal cord injury from a 15 ft fall. I became paralyzed from the waist down—and life was changed forever. My rehabilitation began immediately: I spent four months as an inpatient and eight months as an outpatient, forced to re-learn how to live my life from the ground up. Since that time, I have undergone countless therapy treatments and surgeries to create a better quality of life. The learning is endless when you have a motivation not only to heal, but also an intention to feel good while doing it.

In 2016 I married my wonderful husband, Amjad, and we moved to Michigan a few months later to begin a new phase of life together. It began with a very complex surgery involving a bladder augmentation which took around 4 months to heal from…but has made my life SO much easier.

I wanted to start this fundraising effort again and turn to my community for support in purchasing uninsured medical equipment that needs to be replaced such as shower chairs, ramps for our new house, home modifications, or the expense of an adapted vehicle. To help with the financial burden uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for the past 39 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by Help Hope Live in the Great Lakes Catastrophic Injury Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for injury-related expenses only.
