Layton Perry

On June 25, 2012, our family’s life changed forever.

Layton has been struggling with kidney disease for the past 6 years. He is now in desperate need of a transplant. Since we have been married, for the last 14 years, and had our 2 children, Layton has been the breadwinner, protector, and foundation of our family. I’ve watched him remain strong outwardly, while inwardly knowing that without a kidney transplant, he may not have long with us.

What makes Layton special is that he has always taken care of everyone. He has supported our family, as well as been a huge support to his mother and his brothers and sisters. He has worked since he was 12 years old; maintaining multiple jobs even in high school and college. As an adult, Layton was a dedicated employee of the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture and spent 13 years as assistant director of procurement with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. During his tenure, he was elected president of the Arkansas chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing. Layton has also worked in his church and community, is a Freemason, and has held Grand Lodge positions in both Arkansas and Texas.

Due to his very aggressive kidney disease, Layton was eventually unable to maintain work at the medical center. It was surely not for a lack of effort. He was on dialysis every night (sometimes up to 14 hours) and he would still get up and go to work every day. He was able to work 2 years with end-stage renal disease (ERSD) until his body would no longer allow him to continue.

Your donation would help Layton get his life back. It would help with the transplant surgery costs as well as the post-transplant medications insurance will not cover, which will cost an excess of $400 a month for the rest of his life.

Two of the ways you can take action:
(1) Make a donation to help cover the costs associated with Layton’s life-saving transplant surgery; or
(2) Get tested to be a living kidney donor for Layton.

Our 7-year-old son, Miles, has never seen his Dad without being hooked up to a dialysis unit every night and once during the day. Your help will get them closer to living fuller lives, running, catching balls, and other father-son activities.
