 On Oct. 18th 2019 I married the love of my life, Jeannie Duncan. Was full of energy, running my own business. Construction, roofing, remodels, etc.. Was able to outwork people half my age. Had no health issues that slowed me down. Walking 5-8 miles daily was part of a normal routine.

In Jan. 2020 I fell very ill, having difficulty breathing, fever, etc. Doctors did not know what it was at first. Found out it was COVID. Spent about a week and a half admitted in Scott and White.

Almost every 3 months following this first admission I am having to be hospitalized for lung/breathing issues. Pneumonia has been reoccurring in my lungs and now have been pushed into worse diagnoses. COPD, emphysema, chronic asthma, congestive heart failure and a fib.

Doctors have been back and forth with so much different medications that it’s hard to keep up with. Nebulizer treatments, steroids, inhalers, shots, I even have oxygen tanks I have to use daily. They can’t seem to find a regimen that actually allows me to be able to breath without me having to struggle.

In 2023 was referred to a lung specialist to be considered for a lung transplant In Dallas, Texas. Causing my wife to have to take time off of work and cost us even more to have to stay out of town.

Now we are having to go to Dallas every 3-6 months to be able to see the lung specialist and is costing us even more. We are still in hopes to be able to get the lung transplant, but unfortunately there is a wait list and have been told it can take years to be accepted.

In July 2025 I have now been diagnosed with stage 4 COPD, also known as end-stage COPD.

Breathing is becoming more and more challenging with each passing day. Physical activities have come to a standstill. Even simple tasks, walking, talking, standing for periods of time; are almost impossible without having to struggle to catch my breath. The lack of oxygen has started to affect my thinking making simple conversations challenging, as well as, my memory. Saddens me when my grandchildren come around and they want Pawpaw to play and I can’t.

These conditions have limited my life, and my wife and I are in desperate need of help. With all of the limitations with my health declining I have been homebound. I want to be able to live out the rest of the years to the best of my ability.

In October 2025 my breathing has become more stressful and shorter as time goes on. I went to the emergency room, then they put me on a breathing machine and then resulted in getting placed in ICU on a ventilator, intubated and put into a medially induced coma for 4 days. I am now on oxygen all time, without it I cannot breathe. I have been approved for the lung transplant and have been placed on the list for a new set of lungs.

This unfortunately requires a lot of money that we do not have and we are in desperate need of your help. Many trips to local hospitals and to the main hospital in Dallas, Texas that is over 2.5 hours away from where we live. Resulting in many days away from work for my wife, bills stacking up, hotel stays while in Dallas, wear and tear on our vehicles going back and forth, gas and many, many medications.
