Linda Needs Your Support!

Linda Miranda is in need of a kidney/pancreas transplant and needs the help of her community to make it happen. Linda’s only chance to resume a normal life as a young woman and nursing student, is to undergo her transplant; a life-saving but very expensive surgery.

At the young age of 12, Linda was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, a serious and lifelong medical condition that directly caused her kidneys and pancreas to fail. Since her diagnosis, Linda has been insulin dependent and has had a series of medical complications and setbacks. Three years ago, during a surgical procedure to repair her foot, doctors unfortunately found Linda to be in complete renal failure – call it a blessing in disguise, but it was then that doctors discovered her kidneys and pancreas had completely failed and Linda would need a transplant to survive.

Linda was recently approved for her kidney/pancreas transplant and is currently waiting for her surgery. While she waits, she undergoes daily life-sustaining treatments of peritoneal dialysis to keep her kidneys and pancreas functioning. Even with insurance, Linda is still facing monumental medical expenses such as: lodging and travel expenses (where she must travel over 300 miles to the transplant center), re-location costs to Shands University Hospital in Gainesville, FL, post-transplant medications, co-pays, deductibles and more. These costs continue to add up to more than Linda can handle.
