Lindsay Breternitz

Family and friends of Lindsay Breternitz are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Lindsay has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.Hi, My name is Lindsay  I’d like to take this time to say thank you for your support. I really cannot express how much this means to my family and I, as we try to get through this journey. I have a long road ahead of me.   

A little back story:     I have what you call polycystic kidney disease. It is a genetic disease so it runs in the family. I’ve been struggling with this disease since I was 10 yrs old. Lost and confused about it most of my childhood life. It took a lot away from me cause my normal is not everyone else’s normal, but it made me strong.  

It does, however, affect relationships because of declining health. You are all there one minute and then do not have enough  energy for the next. Others start to ask questions. After so long the questions stop. But in the end, it makes me stronger and makes me fight back with all I have. I could not do it without all my supporters!   Plus I want to live!  

Education on PKD:    It is a genetic disease that attacks the kidney. Develops cyst’s all over the outside and sometimes on the inside. Some may experience kidney stones as well. They also triple in size causing pain. With PKD comes a lot of possible health problems such as aneurysms, high blood pressure, urinary tract infections, heart problems, liver and pancreas issues and finally, In women, polycystic ovarian disease. The only cure for this is a kidney transplant.
