After numerous consultations, tests, and treatments, top specialists have diagnosed her with endometriosis and adenomyosis. Lindy’s situation is rare and complex, requiring specialized care because Crohn’s Disease compounds it. She has relentlessly pursued answers from 20 specialists across five states, striving to piece together the complex puzzle of her health.

As the next step in her treatment, her medical team has recommended laparoscopic excision surgery with an expert endometriosis surgeon. Unfortunately, excision surgery is out-of-network due to its highly specialized nature, which in Lindy’s case involves endometriosis potentially on her bowels. Excision surgery is the gold standard for treating endometriosis because it removes the disease at its root. However, the procedure often involves specialized techniques that insurance companies don’t cover, highlighting a significant gap in women’s healthcare. The total cost for the surgery and related expenses is estimated to be $15,000, which includes out-of-network surgeon fees and travel expenses for out-of-state surgery.
