I REALLY NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

A lot of times in Life things happen that change your life forever. While I served in the Army, I obtained a injury which unfortunately caused a lot of problems. One injury turned to 2 and then 3 and now more than I can even start to count.

When I was discharged at the end of 2004 I knew my life was different but I never imagined how different. There was some medical misconduct which has led to me becoming paralyzed.

In 2022 I fell hard on my back hitting my neck. I begged for treatment for it to go in deaf ears. They swore it was a frozen shoulder and checked nothing else. Fast forward to Feb13th I fell again. This time I did not turn on a light and went over a gate in my kitchen.

Feb 13th was the last day I walked.

14 months later I start another round of home PT praying there will be any difference at all. We have spent over a half a million dollars on just getting a modified home because we were living in a townhome and I only had access to the living room and a half bath until November.

We have had to buy a way to transport me as now I have a 300 pound powerchair which can’t go in just any vehicle. The house we got is not perfectly accessible there still needs a lot of things done so that I can have some of my freedoms back.

I have been completely dependent on my family for way longer than I am ok with and the mental health struggles alone take a role in my recovery. Every day I live without proper fire exits I just sit and cry.

My house nearly caught on fire and if my aid had not been there it could have been much worse and I would not have gotten out of my house alive. I know that may seem drastic but it’s my reality. I can’t cook without someone there because it’s not safe.

I can’t reach the nobs and the way I have to get to it makes it a complete fire concern. I can’t use the microwave as it’s to high. I can’t use the electronics in the living room because it would block the one exit I have. I can not do anything without someone here.

The VA is helps with the medical bills but the home modifications, wheelchair repair, accessible vehicles and a lot of medical equipment and the other things that need to be done are my responsibility. I am in desperate need of a fire exit and ramp out back. I have not priced the door and cost of ramp but I know it’s not in my budget until we get more help.
