Let’s Help Lisa Reach Her Dream

Lisa has a rare bone condition: Hereditary Multiple Osteochondroma (HMO). This is a rare genetic disorder characterized by benign (non-cancerous) bone tumors covered by cartilage that are called osteochondromas. Often found near growth plates: the end of long bones of the arms and legs, the hands, hips, and spine can also be affected. This can result in reduction in growth, bony deformities, osteoarthritis, and the compression of peripheral nerves. This can lead to lots of therapies, surgeries, and constant pain. As an adult, there is a chance that any given growth can be cancerous. This condition can result in not walking, poor muscle tone, and reduced balance, affecting a person’s life physically and mentally resulting in a person being disabled.
Lisa is a strong person, despite her many challenges. She is a mom of two special needs boys, and guardian for her sons and special needs nephew. Lisa is also very active in her community. She is a lead Master Gardener overseeing 14 raised beds for a food insecurity program. She is also a lead volunteer with an agency that addresses the dynamics of homelessness. Lisa has a vast knowledge with the Department of Health and Human Services, Social Security, and lots more. Her roles take her in and around town and in the office.
Lisa is currently looking into purchasing an accessible vehicle to help her become more independent. It’s been harder for her getting around. This is emotionally hard. Let’s all show our appreciation for the valuable and important part she is to this community by giving any monetary amount toward her dream and much needed vehicle.
Lisa is a petite woman with the heart and soul of a grizzly bear protecting her cubs. Those who know her in the community call her Momma Bear.
