We all start out with dreams and plans, but life rarely turns out like we pictured it would. I certainly didn’t expect that I would have journeyed through the challenges that I have since my massive stroke, 22 years ago, at the age of 29.

We often don’t have control over our unexpected challenges, especially medical ones, but I do believe we have a choice on how we react to our circumstances. My stroke, epilepsy from the stroke, and recovery journey has not been easy on anyone, but I truly have been able to surpass the typical statistics in recovery. There are many things out of my control, but I can choose to use my experiences and what I have learned on my journey to help and encourage others. I believe every challenge is an opportunity, and God has given me a unique opportunity to use this mess for a purpose.

In order to continue moving forward in my independence and encouraging others from what I have learned, I have decided I need more help.

Family and friends of Lori Vober are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured training expenses associated with her new service dog, Maverick. Maverick is being trained now in obedience and stability support for Lori. As he grows and matures, he will continue training and learn additional tasks to help her.
