Makya Johnson

Family and friends of Makya Johnson are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with a Transplant. Makya has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses.

Thank you for taking the time to read. Makya was born with Crossed Fused Renal Ectopia. She has been through a lot in her life . She just turned 18. She just graduated high school. She has been battling kidney disease for a while. She is a strong ,beautiful, caring young woman who has future goals of becoming a nurse. She is unable to work, or attend school in person, and is missing out on a lot of young adult activities with friends and family, due to her illness. We are trying to avoid dialysis and all that endures. Her kidney currently functions at approx. 15-17%. Stage 4. She can live a long fulfilling life and accomplish her goals and more if she is blessed with a new kidney. Makya is currently a patient at the OU Health Transplant Center, which is 100 miles from home. She does have insurance, but she still has out-of-pocket expenses for over the counter medications, medical and prescription co-pays, loss of household income, food and gasoline for frequent clinic visits post-transplant that insurance will not cover. Makya’s family are trying to fundraise to assist in covering these post-transplant expenses.
