Meet Malcolm and his journey to full recovery.

Malcolm is a beloved family man and has always been accustomed to hard work and dedication to family. He greets everyone he comes in contact with the brightest smile that is sure to lift up your day. Unfortunately, Malcolm had a tragic accident on December 22, 2022, that would not only change him, but also his family’s lives forever. No one knew how this life-turning tragedy would impact our lives moving forward. Falling 30 feet on a construction site and being told you may not walk again crushed Malcolm, yet his resilience won’t allow him to give up hope. He has pressed through difficult trials thus far and with your help we can continue to give/receive the aid he requires. Malcolm confidently awaits to get back to living his life as normally as possible. His current goals are to walk down the aisle and exchange vows with his fiancé, and joyfully embrace his son. Malcolm enjoys travel and loves music.
He was initially treated at the Erlanger trauma center in Chattanooga, TN. After initial treatment he was transported February 7, 2023 to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta Georgia, closer to home and family. Malcolm suffered a C4 spinal injury that has left him in paralysis. At this critical time in his life, he requires 24-hour care. His mother and fiancé have had to give up their jobs to render all care for him. They attended several training courses to learn how to care for him during his stay at the Shepherd Center. He previously lived with his fiancé and son, but once he was released from the Shepherd Center April 2023, he had to move in with his father some modifications are still needed in the home. Now that he is home Malcolm has lost insurance coverage at the moment. While we wait for options to process, there are still supplies and treatments that cannot be delayed. Physical therapy is a daily practice for his condition. However, the most crucial necessities Malcolm needs are accessible transportation and a power wheelchair. His fiancé and mom have been transporting Malcolm manually getting him into the vehicle using a hoyer, but they do not have the proper vehicle to safely get him around to his appointments. His mother has a Nissan Altima and because Malcolm is 6’3, this entire process is not only a safety issue, but it sometimes hurts them all in the process. The wheelchair he is currently using is a loaner from the Shepherd Center. The loaner has to be broke down and placed in his mother’s trunk partially secured! (Prayers! Don’t fall out!) Most times they struggle to get him in/out causing frustration, injury to caregivers, and further mental distress to Malcolm. He is in dire need of a permanent wheelchair. Malcolm has always been devoted to helping those that he loves and solely being around family. While we believe in science, we obediently trust in God and holistic healing. Malcolm has faith that he will walk again.
