Margie’s Quest for Freedom

For years, I have lived with severe mobility challenges caused by lymphedema, obesity, chronic pain, and bone-on-bone knee arthritis. Simple things many people take for granted—going to church, attending my daughter’s school events, shopping, visiting friends, or even standing long enough to cook a meal—have become incredibly difficult.

At home, I rely on a walker and often have to sit and push myself around because standing and walking are painful. Due to my lymphedema, my legs swell and become very painful if I sit too long without elevating them. Many times I must stop what I’m doing and return to my recliner just to elevate my legs.

My goal is to regain independence and improve my quality of life.

Funds raised through this campaign will help provide: • An electric wheelchair with leg elevation and positioning features • An accessible wheelchair van for transportation • A lift chair and other medically necessary equipment • Mobility and accessibility items that will help me remain independent

An electric wheelchair would allow me to move safely, participate in family activities, attend church, go to medical appointments, cook in my kitchen while elevating my legs, and be more involved in my daughter Nevaeh’s life.

This journey is about more than equipment—it’s about freedom, independence, dignity, and hope.

Throughout this campaign, I will be sharing a series of creative fundraisers and challenges. The first is 80 Days to Freedom, an interactive quest where supporters can follow my journey through milestones, celebrations, and special events as we work together toward greater independence and mobility.
