Maria Rodriguez

Maria is an event staff member for Allied Universal. Due to an immunological disease, Lupus, she developed kidney failure, which required her to get dialysis treatment three times per week. She has been on dialysis as well as the kidney transplant list since August 2016.

Nevertheless, Maria enjoys practicing tai chi at the Lau Kune Do temple, where she was an instructor before the treatment made it difficult to continue. She also loves getting together with friends, visiting museums, and farmers’ markets.

Every year, to be considered for a kidney transplant, Maria has had to undergo a series of comprehensive medical evaluations involving several tests and assessments by the transplant team.

Maria is fundraising to cover medical-related expenses, including post-care, transportation, and medication not covered by insurance. She hopes her kidney transplant will allow her to return to her tai chi and continue her work at events.
