Mark Mierzejewski

Mark is a lifelong Michigan resident and a West Michigan man of 24 years. In 2018, Mark was diagnosed with stage three kidney disease and placed on kidney dialysis. Since then, Mark has undergone multiple surgeries including a triple bypass heart surgery and is now considered stage five (kidney function <15%), the final stage of kidney failure but now qualifies being placed on the transplant list.

Mark currently spends 16+ hours a week receiving dialysis treatment at the clinic on top of his full-time work schedule. Dialysis can leave Mark fatigued and weak with muscle cramps. After his transplant, his time dedicated to the clinic will become his again. He hopes to return to a normal work schedule, fishing, and more time with family and grandkids.

Doctors have informed us that because of the state of Mark’s kidneys and being on dialysis for six years, Mark will be towards the top of the list which is a blessing. Mark has health insurance but the anti-rejection medications required after the transplant are not a covered benefit. Mark is in urgent need of a transplant but needs to fundraise before he can be added to the transplant list due to the overwhelming cost of the anti-rejection medication. He is fundraising to cover the cost of the medication which is unfortunately astronomically priced at $6,000 per month for six months totaling $36,000 and up to $500 a month for a lifetime.

At this time, we are overwhelmed with the burden of raising funds prior to Mark being placed on the transplant list. We are grateful for any support you are able to provide during this difficult time.
