Marvin Losson

Family and friends of Marvin Losson are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.

Marvin is a 51 year old father of two and local truck driver in the community. Marvin has been a volunteer youth soccer coach for many years in the Gladstone/Oregon City community. His family and his volunteer work have been the highlight of his life.

A non-drinker, Marvin was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver in 2018. Over the subsequent years he became ill due to the disease and was hospitalized at Christmas 2021 and again at Easter in 2022 due to the continued deterioration of his liver. His doctors at OHSU put him on the liver donor transplant list in January 2023. He became very ill and debilitated to the point where he was unable to work regularly and not at all beginning in late February 2023. The bills began to pile up as the waiting game began. Things were looking bleak and time was running out for him but in July of this past year, 2023 his prayers were answered, and a liver became available for a transplant. Marvin had a successful liver transplant surgery on July 10, 2023. He and his family are gracious and ecstatic with his new lease on an extended life.

However, bills are still piling up due to his inability to work for the next several months and additional medical bills acquired for post transplant rehabilitation. Although medical insurance covers some of the cost, there are additional expenses, including day-to-day living and housing that continually need to be rectified for him and his family.

To help Marvin and his family, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 40 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live transplant fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for medical related expenses only. Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to directly pay or reimburse medical and related expenses.
