Dear Family and Friends,

Many of you know our mother, Mary Michel. She is the loving husband of Robert and fun loving grandmother of Shelbie and Lauren Wagner. Mom worked very hard for many years as a caregiver for elderly patients. Two years ago she was diagnosed with liver disease and we still do not know the cause.

Since then, Mom has been hospitalized numerous times and her health has steadily declined. She travels to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville usually 1-3 times a week, which is a five hour round trip for her and sometimes is required to stay overnight. She is now in end stage liver failure and her doctors have told us that her only option is a life-saving liver transplant. Now it is time to take care of her.

As you can imagine, the cost of a liver transplant is very high. Even with insurance funding this surgery is a monumental task since there are so many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel back and forth to the hospital, relocation at the time of transplant, and Mom will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is desperately needed.

A fundraising campaign in Mom’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years.
