Mason King

Mason turned 21 this past February, and five days later his world turned upside down.

Mason is the quiet type, but super fun to be around. The best sense of humor. He was, and will be again soon, studying to be a pilot. He enjoys gaming, traveling, exploring the outdoors, running and was the picture of health. He was training to run the Rome Marathon with his mother and sister this past March when all of this craziness happened. Within a week, he went from running 9 miles on Sunday afternoon to being in the ER with Kidney and Heart failure.

Through the grace of God (THANK YOU prayer warriors) and the amazing ability God has given our bodies to heal, his heart has self-healed. Unfortunately, his kidneys could not recover. He has stood strong through all of the hospitalizations, dialysis, multiple surgeries, biopsies, ER visits, transfusions, and endless questions about the cause. We are blessed to have such an amazing team of healthcare providers working with us. :-). Through it all he is still SMILING!

As Mason continues to undergo medical evaluation and waits for a kidney transplant, he undergoes dialysis treatments several times a week in order to stay alive. He is looking forward to a kidney transplant, so he can once again enjoy spending time with his family, explore the outdoors, return to his pilot education, and the many activities he once knew.

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Mason’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years.
