Matt Needs Our Help!

Matteo (Matt) Giampoala has been fortunate to receive a lung transplant after battling pulmonary fibrosis for the for the last 5 years. The team at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania have given him excellent care before and after his surgeries. Now begins the long recovery process including intensive physical therapy and regular calibration of numerous medications. Matt needs our help to cope with those medical expenses not covered by his insurance.

Matt is a kind, generous, and humorous man who loves to laugh with his family. He grew up in Lyndhurst, NJ and worked as a manager for Sorrento for over 25 years. Matt is a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. After more than 30 years of marriage, Matt and Esther have six children, 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild. And there is one more grandchild and one more great-grandchild on the way! He can’t wait to hold these two new arrivals.

While organ transplants are life saving the costs can be overwhelming. Even with insurance, Matt is facing high expenses for rehabilitation, relocation for his wife Esther to help with his care and recovery and the enormously expensive anti-rejection medications he will need to take for the rest of his life.

To help with the financial burden of the uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in honor of Matt Giampoala with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to help patients and families in need for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law and are held by Help Hope Live in the Mid-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund in honor of Matt Giampoala.
