Megan Kotz

Dear Friends and Family,

Many of you know my loving wife Megan (30). Megan is a daughter, sister, and good friend to many. At the age of eight, Megan was diagnosed with Type I, Juvenile Diabetes and has been insulin dependent ever since. Our dog, Brutus, serves as Megan’s Therapy/Hypoglycemia Alert dog.

Megan has been diagnosed with end-stage renal failure and is now forced to undergo dialysis treatments four hours a day, three days a week. Megan also suffers from diabetic retinopathy, a condition that severely affects her vision and has left her blind in one eye. Due to her declining health, Megan is no longer able to work, often fatigued and unable to complete simple, everyday tasks. Her doctors have told us that her only option is a life-saving Kidney/Pancreas transplant.

Not only is a transplant major surgery, it is also very expensive. Even with insurance, there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these include co-pays and deductibles, doctor and hospital visits, travel and relocation at the time of transplant, and Megan will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications.

To assist with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Megan’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
