Michael Needs Our Help!

Michael Allen of Onalaska, Wisconsin is a husband, a father of three and grandfather of four. Over the years, he has struggled with health issues including heart disease and diabetes. Michael must use a pump 24 hours a day. Last February, his health took a turn for the worse when he was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver or NASH (Non-Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis). His doctors at the University of Wisconsin Medical Center have told him he needs a liver transplant to survive. Michael needs our help as his exorbitant medical bills continue to mount. This is a challenge he cannot face alone. He needs our help!

If you are a Sam’s Club shopper in Onalaska, you may have met Michael during the 16 years he worked there as a manager. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting the customers and assisting them with their needs. He feels it is in truly listening to people that makes helping them easier. It is said that Michael has never met a person he could not talk to.

After many years of helping others, Michael is now the one who needs our help. Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, there are co-pays and deductibles, anti-rejection medications he will need to take for the rest of his life, travel to and from the center, relocation and follow up doctor visits. These costs could top $25,000!

To help with the financial burden of Michael Allen’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in his honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the North-Central Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
