The Short and Sweet of It

For more than 20 years, I’ve lived with lupus and chronic kidney disease, first diagnosed in April of 2001 with significant loss of kidney function. A future kidney transplant offers the possibility of improved health, stability, and a renewed quality of life. This fundraiser helps cover approved medical costs related to transplant preparation and post-operative recovery that are not fully covered by insurance. With the right support, healing can be protected and long-term success made possible. Thank you for standing with me as I work toward a healthier and more independent future.

A Little About Me…

I am a lifelong problem solver, builder, and creative thinker shaped by more than two decades of living with chronic illness. I’m deeply motivated by meaningful conversation, music, and time spent in nature, especially quiet moments around a wilderness campsite. Illness has deepened my empathy and strengthened my commitment to compassion, connection, and quality of life. I’m working toward a future defined not by limitation, but by creativity, independence, and renewed health.

The Long Version…

For years, I’ve lived with chronic kidney disease and lupus, conditions that quietly shape every decision, every plan, and every measure of energy. Like many people managing long-term illness, I’ve learned resilience not as a slogan, but as a daily practice. Still, there comes a point when endurance alone isn’t enough, and real healing requires support.

A kidney transplant represents more than a medical procedure. It’s a chance at a new lease on life: the ability to recover strength and vitality, regain independence, participate in the activities I love, and build a future that isn’t defined by constant medical limits. That future, however, depends on a long and carefully managed process including extensive travel and pre-transplant testing, working to help locate a matching donor kidney or one that can be donated to the exchange for a closer placement for a matching kidney for myself, the transplant procedure itself, follow-up care, medications, travel, recovery time, and the practical costs of healing that insurance doesn’t fully cover. Those on my post-op care team will lose vial wages while tending to my needs as I heal. There are many great expenses and financial obligations that come with taking on such a life-changing endeavor. This is where you and friends like you can help make my new, refeshed life and dreams of a chance for a come true.

This fundraiser exists to bridge that gap. Donations go directly toward essential pre-operative testing and post-operative recovery costs, helping ensure that when the transplant happens, the focus can remain where it belongs: on healing, stability, and long-term health. Support here isn’t about crisis—it’s about preparation, sustainability, and giving recovery the best possible foundation.

How Funds Are Used

Funds raised through HelpHopeLive will be used exclusively for approved transplant-related medical expenses, including but not limited to:

Pre-transplant medical evaluations and testing

Post-transplant recovery costs and follow-up care

Medications and medical supplies related to transplant recovery

Travel and lodging required for medical appointments

Other qualified expenses associated with transplant care not fully covered by insurance

All funds are administered by HelpHopeLive and disbursed directly for eligible expenses in accordance with their guidelines.
