Meet Michele Massafra. Dedicated wife, mother of two and grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren.

She is a woman, a wife, a mother, a friend, a grandmother living in Monongahela, PA who was busy raising a family and enjoying a career. She was young, in her twenties. And was successful by many people’s standards. She was active in the PTA as her children grew. Then one day, she had a difficult time walking. It progressed to not walking for weeks. She began going to one doctor and then another and another until she was finally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis .

This was over 34 years ago.

Michele loved to cook and bake. Even from her wheelchair. She would cook dinner for the family. The four of them would eat dinner at the table.

To help slow the symptoms of MS, she endured special diets, herbal concoctions, weekly shots, and lots of physical therapy. Nothing stopped her loss of function. Then the day came when she quit cooking after dropping a hot pan on her leg. BOOM like that her cooking days are over.

A darker period followed when she would go to the doctors weekly for wound care. Visiting nurses would come multiple times a week to assist with the more serious wounds.
Michele’s husband and full-time caregiver, Richard, would be there to take her to the weekly medical appointments, assist the nurses and give her the IV for her various infections.
Everything Michele and Richard have endured together has taken a huge toll. Michele is physically unable to drive, or cook and even to hug her children and grandchildren.

Their van is no longer a safe option to help transport Michele to her many appointments or to see friends and family. It has had serious mechanical issues. The lift only works in manual mode and the frame rusted away to where it’s as thin as paper in other places.

By having safe and reliable transportation you can help Michele regain her freedom. She can visit her children and grandchildren again. She will be able to enjoy the things we take for granted like a stroll in the park, shopping, a nice meal at a restaurant, and sight seeing. Michele loves visiting the zoo. She has visited zoos from Toronto to San Diego!
