Michelle Mandly

Michelle Mandly is only 30 years-old, and she is in desperate need of a lifesaving kidney transplant. Michelle was born with a severe birth defect of her kidneys, and her condition progressively worsened over the years. Eventually, her kidneys began to malfunction and she is now in end-stage-renal disease. Michelle undergoes lengthy and rigorous dialysis treatments in order to stay alive. However, these treatments will eventually lose their effectiveness, and Michelle will have no choice but to undergo kidney transplant surgery. Once a young, vibrant and active woman, more than ever Michelle wants her life back. She would like to go back to work after her transplant surgery, and resume the life she once knew; spending time with family and friends, going to the gym, and living her life to the fullest. Without a lifesaving kidney transplant, Michelle will no longer survive and her time here with family and friends will soon run out.

While transplants are lifesaving, they are also very expensive and Michelle needs your help. Michelle is currently undergoing extensive medical testing so she can be actively listed at the University of California, Davis Medical Center for her transplant.While her health insurance covers part of her surgery, Michelle has to travel over 300 miles every week for pre-transplant testing. She will also be required to pay out-of-pocket fees for travel and lodging, co-pays and deductibles, health insurance premiums and caregiver fees. Once she has her transplant surgery, Michelle will be required to take post-transplant, anti-rejection medications that she will need for the rest of her life. These out-of-pocket expenses are expected to cost upwards of $10,000/month, and Michelle needs your help.

Michelle is truly blessed with the gift of life, in that her Mother has volunteered to be Michelle’s living kidney donor! Like Michelle, her Mother will be required to undergo extensive medical testing, and will have many expenses which are not covered by health insurance, as well. Michelle is also trying to raise money to help with the financial burden of those who will be caring for and driving her mother back and forth to the hospital.

To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Michelle’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only.
