Michelle Needs YOUR Help so her Hope can Live.

Michelle Sanders is a 55 year-old native Georgian who needs your help. She has been an insulin-dependent diabetic since the age of 3. Because of the many complications that go along with this prolonged disease, she was in desperate need of a transplant for a new kidney and she worked with the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital to make that happen. Michelle has an amazing passion for Jesus and she just loves people. She received her miracle kidney from her daughter Nov. 2017 and is now overwhelmed with the financial need to cover the continued cost of her diabetic medications and her anti rejection medications and YOU can be a part of that!

Michelle was born and raised in Georgia where she resides with her husband of 31 years and their 30 year-old daughter. Michelle attended Jacksonville State University and Kennesaw State University. After her studies, she began working for the family business where she met her husband, Bundy. After their marriage in April 1990 they had their daughter in September of 1991. It was then she first began to witness the effects of her lifelong diabetes.

As she was unable to work due to her illness, Michelle spent her time raising a family and serving her community — especially with two organizations — Tres Dias and Vida Nueva which she has been a part of for the last 20+ years. Because of her diabetic complications, Michelle has had to turn down many opportunities to serve. She longs to get back to having an active role in these communities.

The cost of her lifesaving kidney transplant was financially overwhelming. Even with insurance Michelle has many uninsured and therefore unmet transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, frequent doctor visits and the costly anti-rejection medications (estimated at $3200+/month) that she will need to take for the rest of her life. Then to further complicate things Bundy was diagnosed with head and neck cancer in June 2016 and began chemotherapy and radiation treatments. While Bundy was undergoing cancer treatments, his kidney shut down and he began dialysis to save his kidneys. It was in October of that same year that Michelle had to have open heart surgery to clear up a 100% blockage in her Left Anterior Descending Artery (LAD). Then in January 2022 Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer. All this is in addition to the already exorbitant expenses she currently faces which include monthly insulin pump and Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) supplies. But you can help!

Bundy is now CANCER FREE and his kidneys are working at about 50% without having to stay on dialysis. He is taking great care of those organs.
