Mike Needs Our Help!

Mike Stetzel is a 44-year-old man who is very ill. He was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease six years ago. He has been on the national donor list for a kidney transplant for the past four years. While waiting for a transplant, Mike receives life-saving dialysis treatments three times a week at a clinic in Warsaw. Mike, who is one of the kindest people you would ever hope to meet, needs our help, because the cost of treatment and transplant is overwhelming.

Mike grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from Snider High School. He went on to study at Indiana/Purdue University in Fort Wayne where he studied organizational leadership and supervision. He is the father of four children ages 21, 19, 7, and 4. They are his pride and joy. His illness has taken him away from them and that is what frustrates him most. He looks forward to transplant and returning to normal activities with them.

Transplants are life-saving but financially draining. Even with insurance, Mike is facing very high expenses including travel to Fort Wayne three times per week for follow up treatment in the first months after transplant. He will also have high co-pays for critical anti-rejection medications. Mike will also be out of work for at least three months.
