Mitchell Freeman

Mitchell “Mitch” was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2013; in the Spring of 2019, Mitch had a heart attack that led to a stroke, which left him with a diagnosis of aphasia. Due to this, Mitch became disabled and unable to work.

Due to his weak heart, Mitchell has experienced multiple strokes over the years and one additional heart attack. Within the last few years, his diagnosis progressed into advanced-stage congestive heart failure. The recommended course of treatment was a heart transplant.

Mitch’s family received notice that he was put on the UNOS “United Network for Organ Sharing” list on the evening of Friday, December 13th. On the afternoon of Saturday, December 14th, the hospital called to share a donor’s heart became available, and within hours, Mitch was being prepped for his heart transplant. After a 12-hour procedure, Mitch’s family was made aware that the transplant surgery was successful.

Mitch’s family and friends are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live in Mitch’s honor to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with care post-heart transplant.

Mitch and his family also see his recovery efforts and funds donated to help with costs as a way to honor the life of the donor whose heart he received and their loved ones.

Mitch has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because donations are tax deductible for contributors and will only be used to cover medical and related expenses. Mitch and his family appreciate the prayers and continued support.
