Dear Family, Friends, and Yoga Students,

Some of you know that I was diagnosed with Lupus over 20 years ago. Lupus is a chronic auto immune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body).

I have been able to work thru many health challenges over the years with a positive attitude. I have been in the hospital multiple times for treatments and had multiple surgeries. I couldn’t have made it through each of these challenges without the help and support of each of you.

My kidneys have failed and I have been on dialysis for the past 4 years. My doctors at the University of California – San Francisco Medical Center have told me that my only option is a life-saving kidney transplant. The good news is that my sister Sheryl is a match and will be my living donor giving me the gift of life.

Even with insurance there are many expenses that are not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, a caregiver, travel to and from the transplant center, relocation at the time of transplant, and I will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is needed.

In order to ease the financial burden, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
