Nicolas Lovecchio

Nicolas is a happy 12 year old boy with microcephaly , cerebral palsy and epilepsy. After a terrible year of hospitalizations and ICU stays Nick required a feeding tube placement for his medications and formula as well as oxygen for breathing support. He now requires around the clock nursing care.

Nick is completely dependent on others and 100% wheelchair bound. Asking for help is not easy but it’s become too difficult and dangerous to transport him in a car seat anymore. Nicolas needs his freedom- to get to doctor appointments, tests, school and the ability to just get out into the world.

It’s not just the difficulty of getting him in a car seat. But not being able to bring his wheelchair places and having to put him in an uncomfortable stroller. Nicolas needs his portable oxygen, feeding pump, formula, medication, spo2 monitor, suction machine and supplies. He needs all of this equipment to go to a simple doctors appointment. An accessible van will not only be able to carry all of his equipment but it can transport him safely and comfortably. The past year has not been an easy road but we have learned how precious life is and how lucky we are that Nicolas is still with us and moments and memories are what is most important.
