Nicole Millender

My Name is Nicole Millender, I am 31 years old. I’m engaged with 2 children.

In March of 2020 my life changed forever. I was told that I had end-stage kidney failure. That I would need dialysis and eventually a kidney transplant. I am currently on dialysis 7 days a week and currently on the waiting list for a transplant. My blood type is B positive, the most common blood type. So, the average wait time is 7 years. Transplant would give me the ability to live longer, and the freedom to live a normal life.

Right now, I am a full time stay at home mom who homeschool both children. It makes things a little easier for me because having kidney failure is not easy. I have ups and downs on a daily basis. Being sick with all of the medications, different emotions knowing all of the possibilities of the things that could happen while being on dialysis and waiting on a transplant. The thought of transplant is scary but also exciting. Knowing I will live a normal life with my family is all i wish and pray for. For us to be able to be able to create more happy memories traveling, doing the simple things like swimming and skating. Through it all I am blessed to be here and to have family and friends to go along this journey with me.
